The SSC History
Hickory Steel and Salem Steel were once separate entities offering structural steel fabrication before they were both bought by Carolina Steel Corporation. In the spring of 2004, Carolina Steel announced that they would be selling their building fabrication plants in Greensboro NC, Winston-Salem NC, Hickory NC, and Lynchburg VA. On September 30th, 2004 the management of Hickory and Salem plants bought the plants and formed Structural Steel of Carolina, LLC.
Hickory Steel and Salem Steel have retained their original names for business purposes. Structural Steel of Carolina is continuing the missions of its founding companies by providing quality fabricated steel products at a competitive price.
